This compelling concert is book-ended by fairy tales and folklore from Norway and Russia, among them Grieg’s beloved musical portrayal of the shiftless rogue Peer Gynt (Suite No. 1). Long Beach Symphony Principal Oboe, Rong-Huey Liu is the featured soloist performing one of the last works written by German composer Richard Strauss, his Oboe Concerto in D Major. The ever popular and powerful The Firebird Suite by Stravinsky rounds out this romantic program.
