Here you will be presented with upcoming highlights, you will hear the musicians tell what they are most looking forward to, and you will get stories about works and composers – both the well-known and the exciting new ones on the programme. And then of course the orchestra plays lots of musical treats for further inspiration.

2. Play as I say

The girl Tone loves to make up stories and music, and to explore all the images that are inside the music. Now she plays conductor, which means that she will decide everything all the time – all games and all music must be exactly how she wants it. But how does a good conductor actually conduct? And how long can you decide everything before your friends turn their backs on you?

3. Sankthans concert

She has toured with Niels Hausgaard and on TV has gone astray with BS Christiansen. In 2001, together with Rollo & King, she won second place at the International Melodi Grand Prix. But it is primarily as an eminent singer and songwriter that we know this year's soloist.

4. Aalborg Opera Gala

This year marks the 22nd time that the Aalborg Opera Prize has been awarded. The prize is presented at a festive gala concert that presents the greatest hits from the world of opera.

5. BabySymphony

Aalborg Symphony Orchestra has something for every age group. BabySymphony is for the very youngest, and here they can become acquainted with classical music in a relaxed manner with room to listen, play and touch.

6. Promenade concert

No season is complete without a festive promenade concert, and again this year we are ready with flags and high spirits and hope that the audience will party with us. On the podium we will find British conductor Geoffrey Paterson, who has previously conducted the BBC Proms.

7. The French composers

A string of French composers takes us out onto the blue sea in the season's opening concert, where we are both gently rocked and brought out into the high seas. What all four works have in common is that the music is balm for the ears – easily accessible and a sensual experience that grows when experienced live in the concert hall.

8. Mahler's 5th with Weilerstein

The season opens with chief conductor Joshua Weilerstein on the podium and three works, all written by composers who, in their own way, have explored and found inspiration in many different musical genres.

9. Breathtaking Brahms

This was the sentiment expressed in a six-star review in Nordjyske, when the American pianist Jeremy Denk visited Aalborg in 2023 – and played Brahms. Now he is returning and tackling yet another of Brahms' piano concertos. This time No. 1, which is a work with great audience appeal, a piano concerto that takes us on a symphonic journey in a breathtaking dialogue between piano and orchestra.
