For this concert, ASO is thrilled to welcome back acclaimed piano virtuoso Sean Chen, who’ll perform Rachmaninoff’s beloved Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini – a deeply expressive tour de force, inspired by one of Italy’s greatest violinists.

Audiences will be transformed by the powerful music of Motown, with these authentic arrangements and the incredible vocal talents of Chester Gregory, star of Motown The Musical!, American Idol winner Michael Lynche, and superstar songstress Shayna Steele.

7. American Impressions
Join us for an inspiring evening of music that reflects the spirit, diversity, and rich cultural tapestry of America. In celebration of the 250th anniversary of the United States, this program features works rooted in American identity and history – both homegrown and seen through the eyes of an admirer. The evening opens with William Grant Still’s Miniatures for Woodwind Quintet – a charming collection of folk-inspired vignettes drawn from various cultures across the Americas, followed by Samuel Barber’s Adagio for Strings, and concluding with Antonín Dvořák’s “American” String Quartet, a work infused with the rhythms and melodies of African American spirituals and Native American music.

For this concert, ASO will be joined on stage by acclaimed violin virtuoso, Melissa White, who’ll perform Mendelssohn’s beloved Violin Concerto.

9. Haydn, Poulenc & Milhaud
Step into the charm and vibrancy of two of Europe’s most iconic cities – Paris and London. From elegant salons to bustling boulevards, this program captures the essence of each metropolis through vivid and inventive works. Francis Poulenc’s witty and urbane Sextet bursts with Parisian flair, while Darius Milhaud’s La création du monde blends jazz and classical idioms in a bold, rhythmically charged vision of the world’s beginning, inspired by African mythology and the energy of 1920s Paris. Balancing the French exuberance is Haydn’s London Trio No. 3, a piece that is piece is elegant, buoyant, and full of wit, which he composed during his visits to England.
