This world premiere, commissioned by Les Délices, draws inspiration from a traditional Chinese Confucian myth, exploring themes of illness, memory loss, healing, and acceptance through the lens of experimental treatments. Grammy-nominated tenor Nicholas Phan, celebrated for his captivating stage presence and exceptional musicianship, will join forces with the early music ensemble Les Délices. Together, they will weave a narrative that connects Baroque traditions with modern sensibilities, highlighted by the performance of period instruments. Highlighting the concert is the world premiere of a work by Jerod Impichchaachaaha’ Tate, commissioned by Chamber Music Pittsburgh as part of its dedication to fostering the artistic voices that shape the future of chamber music. Tate, hailed by The Washington Post as a composer to watch, brings a unique blend of classical music and American Indian nationalism to the stage. The Dover Quartet, consisting of Joel Link and Bryan Lee on violins, Julianne Lee on viola, and Camden Shaw on cello, holds prestigious residencies and has garnered numerous awards, including a sweep of all prizes at the 2013 Banff International String Quartet Competition and the Avery Fisher Career Grant.
