2. Carmina Burana
The strong opening chorus in Carmina Burana is iconic, and is, among other things, known as the dramatic opening music to the television show X Factor. Here, the goddess of fate, Fortuna, is both praised and condemned, and then things go wild with both lively drinking songs, beautiful declarations of love and even a swan that is burned alive!

3. De la Parra & Den umulige symfoni
Conductor Alondra de la Parra specializes in Latin American music, and has worked closely with composer Arturo Marquéz for many years. His music has its roots in Mexican folk music, with its fierce dance rhythms and breathtaking melodies.

4. Luisi & Ein Heldenleben
In Strauss's masterful Ein Heldenleben, a young hero sets out, full of courage and lyrical exuberance. Out in the world, he meets both enemies and love before he can finally retire, fed up with days. Richard Strauss may have seen himself as the musical hero when he wrote this work – quotations from his own works keep popping up, especially when the hero is portrayed as a peacemaker and benefactor.

"Gillam strikes barren!" wrote The Guardian about Jess Gillam's latest solo album, which went straight to number one on the classical charts. Now the dynamic saxophonist can be experienced for the first time in the DR Koncerthuset. She brings Anna Clynes' alternately violent and lyrical saxophone concerto Glasslands , inspired by Irish mythology.

7. Tausk & Sibelius’ 1.
Commissioning new works and thereby helping to renew classical music is a matter close to the heart of the DR Symphony Orchestra. This evening's first performance is signed by Thomas Agerfeldt Olesen, a deeply personal voice in the Danish composer milieu, whose musical directness and skinless, intense works have made a great impression on listeners and artists alike.

8. Popelka & Smetana
Smetana's great tone poem My Fatherland a musical introduction to Czech culture and history. It begins at Vyšehrad Castle, the old seat of the Bohemian kings, and continues along the great Vltava River that flows below the old castle. In the last movement, the magical mountain Blanik is depicted, which contains a sleeping army. When the need is greatest, the sleeping knights will wake up and save the Czech Republic from the enemy.

Conductor, his interpretations let the music speak from the
heart, revealing deeply personal beauty. Now he's back
with Beethoven's divinely dancing Symphony No. 7. After
Blomstedt's last visit, one of our musicians said, "It's as if
your heart has grown a little bigger.”

10. Kuusisto & Ravel
Musical storytelling joy is one of the characteristics of this evening's conductor, Finnish Pekka Kuusisto. In the evening's masterpiece Mother Goose Tales, the French composer Maurice Ravel gives a new and resonant form to fairy tales by the author Charles Perrault, where figures such as Sleeping Beauty and Beauty and the Beast appear in Ravel's unmistakably glittering orchestral attire.
