The Testament of Gideon Mack instantly became a Scottish classic, a story about grief and the crisis of faith in our society, channelled through the story of one generous, energetic, perceptive, constrained, ashamed and very Presbyterian individual, the Reverend Gideon Mack of Monimaskit.
