5. Somi
Vocalist-composer and actor Somi Kakoma is the daughter of immigrants from Uganda and Rwanda. Known in the jazz world simply as ‘Somi’, her 2021 Grammy® nomination for Best Jazz Vocal Album made her the first African woman ever nominated in any of the Grammy® jazz categories. Hailed for her story-based songwriting and deeply emotive live performances, Somi is a recipient of the 2023 Doris Duke Artist Award, two NAACP Image Awards for Best Vocal Jazz Album, the inaugural Jazz Music Award for Best Vocal Performance and the United States Artist Award. Fresh off the heels of her Tony-nominated Broadway debut, Somi’s set will be full of fan favorites and a preview of songs from her forthcoming album.

8. Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra
Founded in 1988, the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis tours the world performing a vast repertoire of music, from beloved standards to historic and rare compositions to commissioned works. A veritable treasure trove of jazz then, jazz now, and jazz to be, the group’s compositions and arrangements include works by Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Fletcher Henderson, Thelonious Monk, Mary Lou Williams, Dizzy Gillespie, Benny Goodman, and Charles Mingus, as well as new music from the group’s unrivalled collection of world-renowned composers and arrangers.

10. Vitamin String Quartet
Long before Bridgerton broke the Netflix algorithm, Vitamin String Quartet (VSQ) had helped establish classical crossover as a genuine force in contemporary music.
