A Melody of Events at Gloucester Guildhall: Celebrating Music and Memories
March and April 2025 promise a vibrant musical journey at Gloucester Guildhall, featuring standout performances from artists like Katherine Priddy, eXTC, Mike Dawes, and Vicky Jackson with her Pink tribute act. From folk to punk, and everything in between, these events provide a unique platform to relive classic hits and discover new favorites. Whether it's the fresh sounds of Katherine Priddy or the nostalgic beats of UK Subs, Gloucester Guildhall is the place to be for music enthusiasts.
February 2024 saw the release of Katherine Priddy’s eagerly awaited second album: The Pendulum Swing. Greeted by critical acclaim in the press including MOJO who called it “simply brilliant”, the album landed at #1 in the official UK Folk Charts.
Emerging out of the post-punk and new-wave explosion of the late 70s. XTC experienced global success, touring with the likes of The Police and Talking Heads. Sadly, their legions of loyal fans would be left in limbo, when in 1982 XTC stopped touring, becoming a studio based entity. Now, forty years on, those loyal fans can once again experience all the XTC classics performed live to audiences across the globe.
Mike Dawes is an English guitarist known for composing, arranging, and performing multiple parts simultaneously on a single guitar. He is regarded as one of the world’s most creative modern fingerstyle guitarists, with a repertoire spanning original viral videos and popular arrangements, alongside mainstream chart success performing with Justin Hayward of The Moody Blues.
Vicky Jackson’s Tribute to Pink has been a run-away success and has consistently been her most booked act since 2008. Whilst the Pink Tribute show was not her first tribute act, Vicky found herself being compared both physically and vocally when performing Pink songs during her solo shows, so a tribute act to Pink seemed like a very natural step. It quickly became Vicky’s signature act.
October 1977 saw Charlie joined by Nicky Garratt on guitar, and it was the Harper/Garratt song writing partnership that would go on to collaborate on the band's most successful record releases. Through 1977 and 1978 the band played shows all over London including the infamous Roxy punk club, building up a fiercely loyal and sizeable following. Their first ‘recorded’ output was on the ‘Farewell To The Roxy’ LP.
Whether you're a die-hard fan or a casual listener, the events at Gloucester Guildhall this upcoming March and April offer something truly special. Each performance promises to be a memorable experience, rich with the sounds and stories that have shaped music across decades. Be it the innovative guitar techniques of Mike Dawes or the nostalgic journey with eXTC, these events are set to be highlights in the 2025 music calendar.
