Don't miss the Juneau premiere of Joaquin Rodrigo's Concierto de Aranjuez, featuring Juneau guitar legend John Unzicker! Mozart's unforgettable Overture to the Marriage of Figaro begins the program, and we finish with Beethoven's absolutely breathtaking Symphony No. 7, a true masterwork not heard in Juneau for decades.
The Juneau Symphony is on the move! Be a part of the excitement as we pack our bags for our first tour in more than a decade, then return home for a grand Juneau concert. Antonin Dvoraks's spirited Symphony No. 9 anchors our program, which also includes the Juneau premiere of Bach's sublime Concerto for Oboe d'Amore with guest artist Amy Goeser Kolb, and the Alaska premiere of City Beautiful from German-American composer Ingrid Stolzel.
We all share a love for our homeland, and in this final event of our season, we celebrate some of the voices which combine to make Juneau our home. From iconic American music by Aaron Copland, to the Alaska premiere of Peter Boyer's Rhapsody in Red, White, and Blue with internationally renowned pianist Jeffrey Biegel, to original works from Juneau singer-songwriter Annie Bartholomew, we'll be celebrating what it means to be an Alaskan and an American. A special performance of music from Four Moons by Louis Ballard, widely regarded to be the father of Native American composition, marking the first time the JUneau Symphony has performed music by an Indigenous composer.
