5. Shelby Earl feat. The Passenger String Quartet
“Songs for Singing IV” will feature Seattle songwriter, Shelby Earl, performing a selection of original songs in a classic, “American Songbook” style, accompanied only by solo piano and string quartet. Featured instrumentalists Billy Brush (piano) and The Passenger String Quartet, will again help Earl reimagine arrangements of songs off her three studio albums (The Man Who Made Himself a Name, Swift Arrows & Burn the Boats), as well as brand new, never-before-heard originals and selected covers. Years ago, Earl’s friend (and Swift Arrows producer) Damien Jurado, said to her; “You know what I want? I want to hear your songs totally stripped down, performed with just your voice and a piano. Can you please play a show like that?” To which she answered “of course!” But the vision grew from there and Earl thought “we have to also add strings!” Thankfully, the amazingly talented Billy Brush & Passenger String Quartet leader, Andrew D.B. Joslyn, both immediately caught the vision, and have since helped to create an ever-evolving set of stunning new music.

9. Edna Vazquez of Pink Martini
Edna Vazquez presents DE COLORES, an intimate and personal solo performance, displaying the full range of all of her colorful facets in music, from covers of Mexican folk songs, to trova, pop, rock, r&b, and distinctive originals in Spanish and English. Edna Vazquez is a fearless singer, songwriter, composer, and guitarist whose powerful voice and musical talent transcend the boundaries of language to engage and uplift her audience. She is a creative musical artist with a vocal range that allows her to paint seamlessly with her original material, an intersection of Mexican Tradicional, rock, pop and other genres. Edna’s passion for music and performance grew from her bicultural roots and, with songs deeply rooted in universal human emotion, she has traveled far and wide spreading her message of light, love and cultural healing. Vazquez has grown as a musical artist and collaborator over the last years, touring all over the world since 2017 with the acclaimed “little orchestra” Pink Martini, while still performing as a solo artist as well. In the past, she led her own band projects, the Edna Vazquez Quartet, the rock band No Passengers, and the latest, the Edna Vazquez Band. Vazquez also participated in the Latin Grammys with the all-female mariachi fusion band from New York City, Latin Grammy 2017 winners, Flor de Toloache and accompanying Natalia Lafourcade that night. In 2022, as a soloist, Vazquez participated in two great events, one in Canto en Resistencia (Power to the People!) with the LA Philharmonic, with Davendra Banhardt, Ile, Silvana Estrada, Rodrigo Amarante, Jorge Glem, and conducted by Gustavo Dudamel. She also appeared at The Hollywood Bowl with the acclaimed pianist Lang Lang and the Los Angeles Philharmonic, performing DESTINO (1946), a film collaboration between Salvador Dalí and Walt Disney. With Pink Martini, Edna Vazquez has performed with major Symphonies and in legendary concert venues all over the world, including London’s Royal Albert Hall, the Hollywood Bowl, Red Rocks, the Montreal Jazz Festival, and many more. In 2017, Vazquez released an EP album with Pink Martini entitled “Besame Mucho” and featuring her original single “Sola Soy.” And in Fall 2024, Edna Vazquez will release her new album “Te Esperaba,” a collection of mostly original compositions based in traditional Northern Mexican styles like Banda and Norteño, and also in traditional Mariachi. Edna is proud to continue to venture into these traditionally male-dominated genres with her powerful interpretive voice.

10. Heart by Heart – with Steve Fossen and Michael Derosier of Heart
The original rhythm section for Heart – one of classic rock’s most successful and revered bands – is still locked in and delivering those iconic songs as faithfully as possible, says bassist and co-founding member Steve Fossen (a member of Heart from 1969 to 1982), of his band Heart By Heart. Along with former Heart drummer Michael Derosier (1975-1982), vocalist Somar Macek, Lizzy Daymont on guitar, keyboards and vocals, and guitarist Chad Quist, Fossen says Heart By Heart is committed to playing the music with as much reverence and respect as possible. “Our mission is to perform the classic Heart music as faithfully as we can,” according to Fossen. Heart By Heart began organically as a duo when Fossen met vocalist Somar Macek in 2008. “We started out playing dinner parties, bistros and jam nights around town,” Fossen said of the musical pairing. By 2009, Fossen and Macek were a couple and have since married. “We were so in love, we decided to call the project Heart by Heart,” Fossen says. When booking agents began requesting a full band, Fossen welcomed the opportunity to once again play professionally with Derosier while sharing the stage with his new love, Somar.
