The Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts is set to host a series of captivating events in 2025, featuring a remarkable array of artists across various genres. From the melodic precision of the Aaron Diehl Trio to the ground-breaking performances by Sasha Velour, audiences are in for an unforgettable experience. With a line-up that includes the Rising Stars of Opera, the Bereishit Dance Company, and the London Symphony Orchestra, the season promises to be a celebration of talent and creativity.
Praised for his “melodic precision, harmonic erudition, and elegant restraint” (The New York Times), Diehl has performed with musical giants such as Wynton Marsalis and Cécile McLorin Salvant, headlined the Monterey, Detroit, and Newport Jazz Festivals and now brings his exceptional artistry and “organic, sophisticated approach” (DownBeat) to the Mondavi Center for a chance to experience this one-of-a-kind talent.
Today, Rising Stars of Opera features several singers from the acclaimed San Francisco Opera Center performing a wide range of great arias with full orchestral accompaniment from our own UC Davis Symphony Orchestra.

Critically acclaimed gender-fluid drag queen, visual artist, speaker, illustrator and author, Sasha Velour has been a force in the international drag scene long before her scene-stealing, rose-petal-filled win on season nine of the Emmy Award-winning RuPaul’s Drag Race.
Her first book, The Big Reveal: An Illustrated Manifesto of Drag has been heralded as “a rousing tribute to a revolutionary art form and its practitioners” (Publisher’s Weekly).

Growing up in Maryland, Braxton was selected in 2013 as a semi-finalist in the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Saxophone Competition. In 2015, he graduated from The Juilliard School where he studied Jazz Composition. Not only does he exhibit world-class virtuosity on the alto saxophone, but he is also a uniquely talented vocalist, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist.

Taking up piano at the age of four, Heloísa Fernandes has been a force ever since. A student of famed pianists Paulo Gori and Gilberto Tinetti, she cultivated her taste for classical music under their mentorship and in 2001, was a finalist in Brazil’s leading musical competition—the Prêmio Visade Música Brasileira.
Founded in 2011 by acclaimed choreographer Soon-ho Park, the company is known for their contemporary approach to traditional Korean culture with work that beautifully connects the forms and themes of sports and traditional arts. The company’s inspired program consists of Balance & Imbalance, a mediation on human relationships and Judo, a piece that explores violence and sports rules or conflict and cooperation.

The Isidore String Quartet began as an ensemble at Juilliard, heavily influenced by the Juilliard String Quartet and the idea of “approaching the established as if it were brand new, and the new as if it were firmly established.” Winners of a 2023 Avery Fisher Career Grant and the 14th Banff International String Quartet Competition in 2022, their spectacular program includes Mozart’s iconic quartet, along with Grammy-winning composer Billy Child’s moving “Unrequited” and one of Beethoven’s last works.
His Afrique en Cirque showcases the beauty, youth and artistry of African culture in a performance inspired by daily life in Guinea. Prepare yourself for a colorful show beyond its scenery, costumes and staging, featuring acrobats executing gravity-defying moves and human pyramids. Experience this jaw-dropping performance set to the contemporary sounds of live Afro-Jazz, percussion and kora.
