3. Live Nation Presents Jesus Aguaje Ramos and Buena Vista Orchestra
JESUS “AGUAJE” RAMOS (born 1951) is a Cuban trombonist, composer, arranger and musical director. He is best known as the original orchestra leader, composer and trombonist of The Buena Vista Social Club. He has also served long stints in world class ensembles Estrellas de Areito and Afro-Cuban Allstars. His musical journey and history is brought into focus throughout the critically acclaimed 1999 documentary “Buena Vista Social Club”.

6. Luminous Voices Presents LAMENTATIONS
This intimate performance for Good Friday highlights monumental works by Tallis, Bach and Howells. Opening with Knut Nystedt’s ode to Bach, Komm süsser Tod, the program transitions to Thomas Tallis’s stunning Lamentations of Jeremiah I. In the last of our series of Bach motets started in 2013, we will perform his iconic Jesu Meine Freude, featuring 11 movements of chorales, choruses and solo trios. The concert concludes with Herbert Howells’ Requiem, an introspective and contemplative work that exploits the full range of vocal harmonic colours that are a signature of Luminous Voices.
