1. A Grand Finale: Verdi's Mighty Requiem
Experience the profound intensity and emotional depth of Verdi's Requiem with the Pacific Symphony, under the baton of esteemed conductor Carl St.Clair. This monumental work, often described as an opera in ecclesiastical dress, showcases Verdi's unparalleled ability to convey human emotions through music. The performances will take place at the Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall from June 5th to June 7th, 2025, each evening at 8:00 pm. Verdi's Requiem is celebrated for its dramatic force, lyrical arias, and powerful choral and orchestral arrangements. Highlights include the thunderous "Dies irae" and the sublime "Sanctus," offering audiences a transcendent experience that bridges the divine and the human. The Pacific Chorale, led by artistic director Robert Istad, will join the orchestra, adding their exquisite vocal harmonies to the mix. While the vocal soloists will be announced, the anticipation for their performance adds to the excitement surrounding this event. Before each concert, attendees will have the opportunity to deepen their understanding of this masterpiece during a preview talk at 7 p.m. hosted by KUSC's midday host, Alan Chapman. This pre-concert discussion is an excellent way to enhance your concert experience, providing insights into Verdi's life, his Requiem, and what makes this work a cornerstone of choral-orchestral repertoire. Don't miss this opportunity to witness one of the most powerful and moving pieces of music ever composed, performed by the talented musicians of the Pacific Symphony and Chorale. Tickets are available now for this limited engagement. Join us for an unforgettable journey through the depths of Verdi's Requiem, a true celebration of life, death, and the human spirit.
