Schubert’s two masterful piano trios, written in the final year of his tragically short life, will be brought to life by a trio of eminent musicians who are well known to Schubert Club audiences. Audience members who attended the 2021 Schubert Revealed at the State Fairgrounds may remember the trio’s masterful performance.

The award-winning French pianist Jean-Efflam Bavouzet makes his Schubert Club debut in two programs that will offer the rare chance to hear the complete piano works of Maurice Ravel. A specialist in French music, Bavouzet—with his infallible technique and trademark poetry at the keyboard — will bring Ravel’s music to life and give audiences the chance to hear some of the most intricate, lyrical,and technically difficult piano music ever written.

British baritone and composer Roderick Williams is known for his rich and sophisticated tone, intelligent interpretations, broad repertoire, and his infectious enthusiasm. Williams’ International Artist Series program on November 13 with the esteemed Scottish pianist Iain Burnside will include the world premiere of a new work by Minnesota-based composer Libby Larsen.

The beloved Danish String Quartet returns to the Twin Cities, following their hugely successful performance of the Beethoven String Quartet Cycle in 2021. As The New York Times put it: “The Danish play as if they have abandoned their individual personalities entirely to serve the collective—as if they were joined on a single instrument, armed with four bows.”

The revered pianist Garrick Ohlsson returns to the Schubert Club in a collaborative recital with GRAMMY award-winning violist Richard O’Neill, to perform a recital of works by Schubert and Rachmaninoff.

A remarkable young violinist from Rio de Janeiro, Nathan Amaral has earned rave reviews from his appearances in Europe, South America and the United States. In 2024, he was awarded First Prize at the 27th Sphinx Competition and in the same year, he released his debut album on the Decca label.

Formed in Paris in 2015, Le Consort is an early music ensemble dedicated to the quintessential chamber music genre that reigned supreme in the Baroque era: the trio sonata. Made up of two violins, a cello and a harpsichord, the ensemble’s diverse repertoire includes trio sonatas from Italy, France, Germany and England, which represent the essence of Baroque chamber music., Le Consort’s Music in the Park Series program highlights the works of well-known composers who helped define the genre, such as J.S Bach, Georg Phillipe Telemann and Francesco Geminiani, as well as those whose works remain unknown and often unpublished, such as Giorgio Gentili, Nicola Porpora, and Michel-Pignolet de Montéclair.

The international career of the Spanish cellist phenom Pablo Ferrández has exploded in recent years, with concert tours and festival appearances in the United States, Europe, Russia, and the Middle East. A top prizewinner at the XV International Tchaikovsky Competition, Ferrández has been hailed as a “new cello genius” (Le Figaro) while the LA Times raved: “Pop-idol magnetism, superb technique and exhilarating musicality reveal a sure star!…Pablo Ferrández has turned into a cello phenomenon and one of the most in-demand instrumentalists of his generation.”

In this novel collaboration, acclaimed saxophonist Steven Banks joins one of America’s most celebrated string quartets in a program called Musical Mystics. Their Music in the Park Series program, Musical Mystics, will include the Minnesota premiere of Banks’ new work What’s Old is New for saxophone and string quartet, as well as his arrangement of Golijov’s The Dreams and Prayers of Issac the Blind, about the mystical Rabbi of Provence who eight centuries ago dictated a manuscript that foretold the future.
