Celebrate the start of a new season with the Spartanburg Philharmonic Youth Orchestra! This concert highlights the fresh energy and enthusiasm of our talented young musicians as they present a diverse program of classical and contemporary pieces. Witness the foundation of their musical journey as they showcase the skills they’ve developed so far this season.

Out of the rich roots music traditions of the Southern Blue Ridge Mountains comes the authentic sound of Fireside Collective. A band steeped in the technical proficiency of bluegrass music, their sound draws on blues, country, and folk traditions while being interpreted through the exciting instrumental interplay of an American jamband. Energetic, inspired solos featuring mandolin, dobro, and acoustic guitar are woven tastefully atop the rock-solid rhythm section of electric bass and drums. Formed in Asheville, NC in 2014, the ensemble has been winning over audiences across the country with their soaring vocals and heartfelt original music.

"The Nutcracker" with Spartanburg Philharmonic has dazzled audiences of Hub City for more than three decades and is hailed as one of our most beloved holiday traditions. Over the years choreographer and director, Carlos Agudelo, has created a multi-faceted artistic masterpiece that delights audiences of all ages. Each season features new choreography and costume additions, as well as a Nutcracker Market located in front of Twichell Auditorium. This market provides families with an ultimate Nutcracker shopping experience, complete with photo opportunities, hot chocolate, music, and more before entering the auditorium. Join in the Christmas tradition with "The Nutcracker."

Kicking off 2026 and the “Festival of American Voices,” this concert presents a vivid survey of American classical music, highlighting voices from different cultural backgrounds. From the rhythmic energy of Chokfi’ by Chickasaw composer Jerod Tate to Florence Price’s evocative Mississippi River Suite, which weaves together spirituals into symphonic form, the program reflects the richness of American heritage. Aaron Copland’s Four Dance Episodes from Rodeo, with its iconic “Hoe-Down,” captures the spirit of the American West, while a new work by composer Peter B. Kay adds a fresh local perspective. Together, these pieces create a musical patchwork celebrating the diversity and depth of American artistry.
