#### About the Artist:
Elijah Jamal Balbed, a 2014 Strathmore Artist in Residence and DC-native, founded The JoGo Project—a jazz-infused go-go band inspired by his time with the legendary Chuck Brown, the Godfather of Go-Go. The Wammie Award-winning group has made significant strides in the music scene, including collaborations with Sugar Bear and a historic performance in Russia. In 2022, Balbed expanded the band to include a full big band lineup, blending traditional big band sounds with the rhythms of jazz and the spirit of DC go-go music.
