The partnership of piano plus, in this program, one violin, cello, or flute provides a unique opportunity for listeners to witness personal collaborations between pairs of artists. Each piece is distinctive: a two-movement sonata by Mozart, Grieg’s only cello sonata, the original version of Prokofiev’s D-minor flute sonata, and Fauré’s first violin sonata, about which Saint-Saëns wrote, “with this work, Monsieur Fauré takes his place among the masters.”

3. Ustad Naseeruddin Saami & The Saami Brothers
Prepare to be moved when Pakistani musicians Ustad Naseeruddin Saami and Zeb Bangash join forces to explore the spiritual healing power of khayal music. Saami, the last living practitioner of a mesmerizing ancient 49-note microtonal vocal scale, is a master of both khayal—a genre of Indian classical vocal music—and qawwali, a form of devotional music performed by Sufi musicians. Saami will be joined by his sons, The Saami Brothers, for this special event that carries forward the family’s khayal and qawwali music legacy.

BandHouse Gigs returns to The Barns to celebrate Rock and Roll Hall of Famer and quintessential California singer/songwriter Jackson Browne!
