A Symphony of Seasons: Celebrating Love, Light, and Baroque with KVSO
Experience the magic of orchestral music with the Kankakee Valley Symphony Orchestra as they present a trio of enchanting concerts. From the festive Baroque charm of 'A Baroque Christmas' to the romantic allure of 'Music Speaks of Amour,' and culminating in the enlightening journey of 'Music Speaks of Light,' each performance promises a unique auditory feast. Featuring renowned soloists and the harmonious KVSO Chorus, audiences will traverse through a world of musical storytelling that spans centuries, leaving a lasting impression of beauty and grandeur.
Deviating slightly from our Music Speaks theme, we will be offering A Baroque Christmas. Our own flute section of Stephanie LUPO & Clara CAPRIOTTI and concertmistress Rebekah COPE-EVERS will be appearing as soloists in J.S. BACH’s Brandenburg Concerto No. 4 in G Major. The Kvso Chorus" class="css-u850">KVSO Chorus will perform the entirety of Antonio VIVALDI’s Gloria in D Major as well as selections from G.F. HANDEL’s Messiah. The KVSO will also perform Franz Josef HAYDN’s Symphony No. 96 in D Major “The Miracle” and there will also be an opportunity for audience participation, as singers, during this concert.

Amour (Love) is the theme for our February concert. Cleveland, Ohio-based violinist Andrew SORDS will be joining us for Pyotr Ilyich TCHAIKOVSKY’s Violin Concerto in D Major. Franz Peter SCHUBERT’s Rosamunde Overture and Ernest CHAUSSON’s Symphony No. 2 in B-flat Major round out the program.
Our 2024-2025 Season Finale! This All-Orchestra program, focused on Light in the form of moving from darkness to light, will again feature the KVSO Chorus. This time, they will join the KVSO for a performance of Elaine HAGENBERG’s Illuminare with texts taken from St. Ambrose, Hildegard von Bingen, Aurelius Clemens, Pope Gregory, The Gospel of John and the Canticle of Zecharia.
