Around 1800, Vienna was the center of wind ensemble music, boasting a multitude of professional ensembles and an enormous output of repertoire. For students of the Early Music Institute, working on this repertoire on original instruments or their replicas is second nature; for those of the Wind Instruments Institute (clarinet, horn), it's an adventure that offers a fresh perspective on the world of historically informed performance practice, as the "old" instruments ultimately open up a new sonic world.
