Following this, Nicholas Nelson will take center stage with Nino Rota's Bassoon Concerto, a warm and humorous tour-de-force for the double-reed instrument. The afternoon will culminate with Robert Schumann's Symphony No. 1, "Spring," a piece inspired by the composer's wife, Clara, and premiered by Felix Mendelssohn in 1841. Schumann aimed to capture the essence of the world awakening to spring, making this piece the perfect selection for an April weekend.
