“Music may not change the world, but it can inspire people to change it,” said the legendary Austrian jazz musician Joe Zawinul. Flip Philipp, a master of the vibraphone, was fortunate enough to meet him in early 2004 and collaborate with him for three days on a joint project at Vienna City Hall. This experience left a lasting impression on Flip Philipp. It also provided the inspiration for a new approach to the musical creation process and its interpretation. In his tribute, Flip Philipp and his quintet recall this time and draw inspiration from the early Joe Zawinul.
