Pianist

Paul Lay and Joël Suhubiette, artistic director of the Les Éléments Chamber Choir, pursued a parallel musical career that took them to Toulouse and then to Paris. The two musicians share a curiosity for all types of music, which they enjoy exploring and bringing into dialogue in original creations. Their encounter sparked a desire to confront their worlds and blend them into a unique creation. In this unique program, for which he composed the music inspired by poems by Pablo Neruda, Henry David Thoreau, Victor Hugo, and Emily Dickinson, Paul Lay presents several original pieces for choir and jazz trio around the theme of light. These pages are complemented by arrangements of works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Henry Purcell, and György Ligeti for choir and jazz trio.

The Philharmonic Concerts of the Hamburg State Orchestra become ZeitSpielen and transcend the boundaries of the ordinary: In this concert, Giorgi Gigashvili's interpretation of Bach's music and music inspired by Bach will be heard - not only as a pianist, but also as a composer. The third movement of the harpsichord concerto will be replaced by his orchestration of the jazzy Peterson Suite, inspired by the original. We encounter Bach today as a mirror of the past and at the same time, through Gigashvili, as part of the here and now! This musical performance without fear of contact opens up new perspectives on our musical culture, our way of thinking and being, our way of receiving music.

Hailed for his “golden timbre and virtuosic flair” (New York Times), trumpeter Jens Lindemann joins the dynamic pianist Stephen Prutsman, who is currently Visiting Artist at Stanford University, and celebrated violinist Chee-Yun for a program spanning from Brahms’s Horn Trio to Oscar Peterson’s iconic Canadiana Suite. Recognizing the recent tragedy brought by the California fires, this program includes a new commission for trumpet, violin and piano by California-based composer Peter Golub.
