The annual Fresh Tracks Residency & Performance program for early career movement-based artists will continue to celebrate its 60th year with five sublime artists: Dorchel Haqq, Ariel Lembeck, Cristina Moya-Palacios, Dahlia Qumhiyeh and Sacha Vega. Featuring current Artistic Advisor Juliana May, the program originated at Dance Theater Workshop in 1965 to bring new choreographic artistry to the forefront. New Works is a fully produced shared evening featuring pieces created during the residency.

Rescued from her fate in a convent, Manon finds herself pulled between two suitors: Power and True Love. Opera’s original it-girl deftly invents and reinvents herself, transforming her circumstances even when the stakes turn deadly. Obie Award-winning director Rory Pelsue (NYT Critic's Pick The Last Bimbo of the Apocalypse, Pulitzer Prize finalist Circle Jerk) and Artistic Director Jacob Ashworth premiere a saucy English-language book and lyrics for this musical theatre revamp of Massenet's masterpiece. Dan Schlosberg channels Richard Rodgers and Rococo in his luscious new arrangements, and a glittering cast of opera-savvy Broadway voices bring an entirely new sound to Heartbeat Opera.

The Space at Irondale

Somewhere in foggy Northern California, an intentional community tries to live off the land and keep an unsteady world at bay. But when one of their own dies unexpectedly, ideals are tested and faith in their independence is rocked. The Burning Cauldron of Fiery Fire is a tender, funny, probing story about a death, a pageant, a rescue, a resurrection, pigs, and the act of saying grace. The kids may not be all right.

This world-premiere play reunites renowned playwright Anne Washburn and Obie-Award winning director Steve Cosson, following their acclaimed collaborations on Mr. Burns, A Post-Electric Play (“downright brilliant”, NYT) and A Devil at Noon.
