Since 2010, chamber music ensembles of the Staatskapelle have been performing at the Bode Museum, a jewel of Berlin's museum landscape. The traditional Christmas concert of the German Chamber Academy Neuss will take place this time in the Christuskirche. The string sounds from Arcangelo Corelli's famous Christmas concert "Fatto per la notte di natale", the heavenly melodies of Arvo Pärt and baroque concertos by Giuseppe Sammartini or Georg Muffat will transport you into a pre-Christmas mood. The concert will be conducted by harpsichordist Luca Quintavalle. He performs in the major concert halls of Europe, the USA and Japan. For more than five years he was the harpsichordist of Cecilia Bartoli and Les Musiciens du Prince under the direction of Gianluca Capuano and since 2020 he has worked regularly as an assistant and continuo player with Fabio Biondi.

Anne Akiko Meyers is one of the world’s most esteemed violinists, celebrated for her expressive depth and technical prowess. She has collaborated with today’s most important composers, conductors, and orchestras, creating a remarkable collection of new violin repertoire for future generations, including Arturo Márquez’s Fandango, a violin concerto written for her in 2021, which received a 2024 Grammy® Award nomination for her recording with Gustavo Dudamel and the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Ms. Meyers’ CAMA recital debut program will include a premiere of Philip Glass’s New Chaconne, as well as Márquez’s Danzón No.2 in a new arrangement by the composer. Anne Akiko Meyers will play the exquisite 1741 “ex-Vieuxtemps” Guarneri del Gesù, considered by many to be the finest sounding violin in existence for its powerfully luxuriant sound and mint state of preservation. Michala Petri is one of Denmark's most recognized soloists, and her talent on the recorder is legendary. Since her debut as a mere 11-year-old in Tivoli's Concert Hall in 1969, with her virtuosity and passion for the recorder, she has conquered the world's music stages and left her mark on the world of classical music for over 50 years. Now she dives once again into her absolute specialty: the magical universe of the Baroque. She lets the audience be seduced with lovely music by Vivaldi, as well as Bach's double concerto, originally written for violin and oboe, but tonight with Michala Petri's recorder as the main focus.

Join us for an enchanting evening with the Handel & Haydn Society at the Naumburg Orchestral Concerts on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, from 7:30 PM to 9:15 PM. This prestigious event will take place at the iconic Naumburg Bandshell, a symbol of New York's rich musical heritage.

Under the artistic direction of Jonathan Cohen, with Aisslinn Nosky as the director and violinist, the concert promises an unforgettable experience. The evening will feature the exceptional talents of Joélle Harvey (soprano), Ian Watson (organ), and Debra Nagy (oboe), bringing to life a selection of baroque masterpieces.

The program includes Arcangelo Corelli's Concerto grosso in D major, Op. 6 No. 1, a series of movements that showcase the depth and complexity of baroque music. George Frideric Handel's contributions include arias from "Guilio Cesare" and "Semele," as well as the Organ Concerto in F Major, HWV 295, all highlighting the vocal prowess of Joélle Harvey. The concert will also feature Johann Sebastian Bach's Concerto for Violin and Oboe in C Minor, BWV 1060R, a testament to the intricate interplay between violin and oboe.

An intermission will provide a moment of pause before the continuation of this musical journey, culminating in Handel's "Silete venti," HWV 242, a work that promises to leave the audience in awe with its symphonic and vocal beauty.

This performance by the Handel & Haydn Society, a group with a storied history in our concert series since June 2022, is made possible through the generous support of the Bernhill Fund. It marks a continuation of the society's tradition of excellence in performance, bringing classical music to the heart of New York.

Soloists from the Festival Orchestra will bring out the southern sun to banish the northern fog through the influence of Italian Baroque composers. Come for J.C. (“The London”) Bach’s Sinfonia Concertante for violin and cello, and concerti grossi by Corelli, Geminiani (arranging Corelli) and Avison (arranging Scarlatti), and stay for Handel’s delightful chamber organ concerto “The Cuckoo and the Nightingale” and more—performed by the Festival Orchestra led by Elizabeth Blumenstock.

Join us for a mesmerizing evening of classical music as "The 24 Violins Cross the Alps" takes the stage on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at 5pm. This extraordinary concert will be held at the prestigious Sanctuary of Brick Presbyterian Church, located at 1144 Park Avenue, nestled between 91st and 92nd Street. 

Last season, our largest ensemble of string musicians recreated the official string band of France’s court at Versailles. This year, for our 2023/24 finale, we are thrilled to reunite this incredible orchestra in a new program that celebrates the profound influence of Lully’s 24 Violons du Roy on German and Italian music. The evening will feature works by Muffat and Corelli, transporting the audience through a musical journey that bridges countries and centuries.

The program includes selections from Jean-Baptiste Lully’s masterpieces such as "Atys," "Le bourgeois gentilhomme," and "Les plaisirs de l’île enchantée," among others. Arcangelo Corelli’s "Concerto grosso in D major" and "Trio Sonata in E major" will showcase the Italian genius's contribution to the baroque era. Georg Muffat’s "Armonico tributo" will further enrich the evening with its harmonious blend of French, Italian, and German styles.

Our ensemble for the evening comprises a talented group of musicians playing Dessus de Violons, Hautes-contres, Tailles, Quintes, Violoncelles, Violes de gambe, Basses de violon, and Basse continue, along with Percussions, Théorbe, and Clavecin. This diverse array of instruments promises an authentic and immersive baroque experience.

Conductor and violinist Dmitry Sinkovksy, known for “flourishes that may make your jaw drop,” (The Times, London), leads Baroque showpieces including music from Handel’s Messiah and works by Italian masters. Jumping ahead, Stravinsky finds inspiration in 18th century styles, creating the soundtrack to a hilarious ballet about love, love, and more love.

**Harmony Without Borders: A Unique Recital Experience**

Join us for an evening of exquisite music at the "Harmony Without Borders" concert on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at 5pm. This special event will take place in the breathtaking setting of The Chapel of Brick Presbyterian Church, located at 1144 Park Avenue, nestled between 91st and 92nd Street. 

This uniquely conceived recital promises an unforgettable experience as it interweaves the keyboard music of Jean-Philippe Rameau with the violin sonatas of Arcangelo Corelli. This performance continues the rich conversation between Italian and French baroque styles, set against the stunning backdrop of stained glass within Brick Chapel. 

**Performers and Program:**
- **Daniel Lee** on violin and **Jeffrey Grossman** on harpsichord will lead the evening with an approximate concert length of 80 minutes, without intermission.
- The music program will feature Rameau's pieces such as "Les niais de Sologne," "La Triomphante," and "Les Cyclopes," alongside Corelli's violin sonatas from op. 5.
