Sixteen Words takes us on the journey of Mona, a young journalist who, triggered by the loss of her grandmother, finds herself in an identity crisis and travels to Iran. This journey, which stretches from the familiar streets of Germany to the heart of Iran, is not only a farewell, but also a celebration of life and a shimmering self-reflection. It is an odyssey of self-discovery, artfully presented in sixteen chapters, each titled with a single Persian word that captures the essence of the story and defies translation.

Virginia Woolf called it "the most boring novel in the world." Kurt Tucholsky compared this work to a Maggi bouillon cube that would be brewed mediocrely for generations.

Ulysses

While reading classwork, a teacher is confronted with a racist remark that contradicts his humanistic convictions. He underlines it and finds himself facing not only the student's father but his entire class: they demand his suspension and accuse him of harboring anti-state sentiments. The teacher and his students, the youth being playfully prepared for the next war by the ruling regime, become increasingly estranged. But then, during summer camp, one of the students is murdered – and the search for the killer begins…

Youth Without God

"Before the Dogs" (UA)  is a scenic collage of migrations from Germany to Brazil since the 16th century. The focus is on the German-Brazilian couple Marlene and Rosa. Around them, glimpses of different eras are shed. These are people who left their homeland for a variety of reasons, who (violently) created a new home for themselves, or who simply never felt completely at home.

to the dogs (UA)

A mother and daughter live in a rented apartment building by the canal, outside the city. Rents are rising, and the mother reacts to every other crisis in her life with helplessness and lethargy. Neither the accusations nor the efforts of her daughter Vera help her.

Current perspectives on feminist resistance in Iran

On September 13, 2022, Jîna Mahsa Amini, a Kurdish Iranian woman , was arrested by the so-called morality police for allegedly not wearing her headscarf correctly. Two hours after arriving at the police station, she was hospitalized and died a few days later from head injuries. A wave of protests then swept across Iran. "Jin, Jiyan, Azadî" / Woman - Life - Freedom / Frau - Leben - Freiheit (Woman - Life - Freedom) is the old slogan that protesters worldwide chanted in the streets and which now stands for the idea of ​​a feminist revolution.
