I once knew a guy named Sterni who was a doorman at a state-subsidized dive bar. "What really matters," he always said, "is overcoming gravity." As an enlightened European, I could see immediately, of course, that the thing would never fly, but he just said, "Now let's give that engine some gas," opened two beers, and off we went. Unfortunately, we then had a falling out at an intergalactic convenience store over the question of why all bodies fall at the same rate regardless of their mass, and I haven't seen him since.
