Captain Ahab is obsessed with the urge to take revenge on the giant white sperm whale that tore off his leg. Whoever spots Moby Dick first receives a gold coin. The men who earn their living as whalers fall under the spell of the charismatic captain and become increasingly entangled in Ahab’s vengeful obsession. ‹Moby Dick› was originally staged in Hamburg starting in 2013 with an eight-person cast. The co-directors Antú Romero Nunes and Jörg Pohl adapted this groundbreaking collaboration into a solo performance under pandemic conditions. The play has been on the program in Basel without interruption for five years.
