A land at war, a people yearning for peace, a wizard guarding a magical sword – Excalibur. Only he who can pull it from the stone can become the rightful king of Britain. Arthur is the chosen one, ending the sinister reign of his rival Lot and gathering his loyal knights around a round table to make peace. But in the background, Merlin and Morgana pull the strings of fate: Arthur's love for the beautiful Guinevere is put to a severe test by his best friend Lancelot. In the end, Lancelot is dead, and the knights are scattered to the winds.

At the height of his career, Swedish conductor Daniel Dareus collapses on stage during a concert. He decides to radically change his life and returns to his childhood village. But even there, music won't let him go: He takes over the direction of the church choir in an unconventional yet successful way, making himself unpopular with the community.
