Richard, a retired water management engineer, lives alone and withdrawn in a gated community. His daughter Helen is his only remaining connection. While she, as a lawyer, fights the destructive behavior of her father's generation towards society and the environment, Richard cannot acknowledge that the world has changed. He demands that Helen care for him, while she cannot and will not accept his blindness to everything around him.

Tessa, a young criminal defense lawyer, has unwavering faith in the right and wrong of the law. As a woman who fought her way up from working-class background to top legal talent, she believes in the inherent correctness of the system. Based on these principles, she defends men accused of sexual assault and wins her cases, one after the other. Until she experiences firsthand that the law doesn't protect her from abuse. Until she herself becomes one of those women who can't prove anything. Prima facie – "until further notice" – as long as no evidence to the contrary exists. As long as there is even the slightest doubt about the course of events, Tessa's testimony isn't enough. Following its world premiere in Sydney in 2019, this multi-award-winning monologue is being performed on numerous German and international stages.

The plan is: to say nothing on this stage tonight. Five minutes of silence against the noise of the world. Silence to avoid immediately knowing what needs to be said and done. Silence to avoid accusing others of untruth or intolerance. Because outside the protected space of the theater, opposing positions now exist that make peaceful silence impossible. But in here, silence must be conceivable, because the stage can channel and capture the perpetual stream of words, thoughts, and attributions, and could become a place of contemplation. Simply remaining silent, however, is harder than expected and drives the characters from silence into chaos. As beautiful as the idea was, now one crude story chases the next, and every actor vies for the audience's attention with new vanities. And so much for silence.
