Richard, a retired water management engineer, lives alone and withdrawn in a gated community. His daughter Helen is his only remaining connection. While she, as a lawyer, fights the destructive behavior of her father's generation towards society and the environment, Richard cannot acknowledge that the world has changed. He demands that Helen care for him, while she cannot and will not accept his blindness to everything around him.

O Fortuna, you are changeable as the moon. Thus begins and ends Carl Orff's most famous work, in which he reflects on the fleeting nature of fortune and the inescapable cycle of human destiny. Carmina Burana, an anthology of medieval songs, celebrates the beauty of spring, pays homage to life, and extols the power of love. With his music for these texts, Orff provides the foundation for a sensual Gesamtkunstwerk (total work of art), deliberately placing the staging in the hands of directors and choreographers. Music, song, and dance are inextricably linked, and so the Spanish choreographer Alba Castillo and the dance company invite their colleagues from music theater, orchestra, and choir to a shared exploration of happiness, prosperity, love, and their transience.
