Hamid and Emma meet in online chats and immediately like each other. Feeling misunderstood by their parents and school, they increasingly escape into a parallel online world. There, they are susceptible to online posts that disparage debates on equality and migration and turn to traditional values. While Emma has already dedicated herself to the Tradwife community as an influencer, promoting classic gender roles, Hamid develops fantasies of an "ideal" world in his self-developed game, Klirrtheworld . They increasingly isolate themselves from the outside world and become more and more radicalized in their online lives. The film "Influencer" addresses the connection between social media and the growing influence of right-wing ideologies, especially among the younger generation.
