The motto "Stories that matter" sets the tone for the second edition of the Wiener Festwochen’s Academy Second Modernism. A public discourse event examines the possibility of a global, equitable music culture and how new ways of storytelling from a diverse perspective can succeed. The two concerts with Klangforum Wien are featuring 10 internationally groundbreaking female composers whose artistry shapes the global, second, feminist modernsim.

Iranian Female Composers Association (IFCA) is a group of artists who have combined their experiences and creativity to provide a platform for otherwise-unheard musical voices from inside Iran and the Iranian diaspora and to build and support a growing community of female and non-binary identifying composers. IFCA has curated and produced concerts at various significant venues including the Kennedy Center’s Direct Current Festival and Lincoln Center’s Mostly Mozart Festival. This special multi-genre collaboration is curated in partnership with Seattle Symphony musicians and will include a multi-media world premiere piece crafted for Octave 9.

Experience an unforgettable evening of innovative and captivating classical music with Camerata Pacifica in their highly-anticipated January Concert of 2024. This event will showcase the talents of world-renowned composers and award-winning soloists.

First on is "Shadowline" by Sir George Benjamin, a contemporary composer known for his evocative and dynamic compositions. This will be followed by a brand new work by the talented Niloufar Nourbakhsh, whose music has been praised for its rich and emotive quality.

Joining the Camerata Pacifica ensemble will be an exceptional lineup of soloists, each a master of their respective instrument. Pianist and harpsichordist Gilles Vonsattel, violinist YuEun Kim, cellist Ani Aznavoorian, percussionist Ji Hye Jung, clarinetist Jose Franch-Ballester, and soprano Cristina Bakhoum Sanchez will grace the stage with their virtuosity and artistry.

Founder of the Iranian Female Composers Association, Nourbakhsh is a true civil advocate, and this comes through in her powerful, inspiring music.
