Trumpeter and vocalist Sonny Singh and guitarist-composer Ria Modak create South Asian diasporic music that channels ancestral wisdom into a call for love, devotion, and courage in turbulent times. Singh, celebrated for his bold and joyous musical innovation, has been praised for “chart[ing] new ground” with his critically acclaimed solo debut Chardi Kala, blending Indian devotional traditions with Western pop and brass-driven arrangements. Modak, a historian, composer, and translator from New York, brings a richly interdisciplinary practice shaped by collaborations with artists including Ali Sethi, Vijay Iyer, and Paquito D’Rivera, with performances at venues from Lincoln Center to BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! Together, they offer a vibrant and deeply rooted musical experience that bridges tradition, experimentation, and collective joy.
