American playwright Margaret Edson wrote an empathetic modern drama about confronting serious illness—a deeply human play that, despite its grave subject matter, contains intelligent humor. Wit invites reflection on existence itself, on both the strength and fragility of human life.

She created one of the most important works of English literature, but she did not live to see it recognised. The characters of this moving story are related not only by blood but by place, where nature speaks as powerfully as the ghosts of ancient guilt. The stormy elements also stir the peculiar notions of good and evil with which Emily Brontë has so irritated contemporary society. Balladic and almost horror-like, Wuthering Heights is psychologically on a par with the greatness of ancient dramas. It tells the story of people who dedicate their lives to a destructive desire. The only woman who can stop the dark hero on his path of vengeance marries his rival. The obsession that transcends the temporary limits of human existence and the birth of evil are the driving dramatic forces behind the characters. Their story has rightly inspired both filmmakers and the world's theatres.

Wuthering Heights

Theater of JK Tyl New Stage

Heda, Heda Gabler, the ambitious and dangerously beautiful daughter of General Gabler, pampered by everyone, yet unattainable. A modern Artemis. And next to her – Jørgen Tesman. A brilliant scientist, but a man who is almost useless in practical life. Something is missing and someone is surplus to requirements... Instead of fulfilled dreams, there is only banality. Instead of a fulfilled life, there is only silence, which sounds louder than shouting. Who controls whom? Who is today's Heda? Have we learned to face our own mistakes?
