With La Cenerentola , Rossini strikes the perfect balance between laughter and emotion. The young lovers and their guardian angel possess the nobility of the serio style, while the stepfamily bursts forth with comic absurdity . All cross paths amidst a series of misunderstandings with electrifying effects. Returning to the Dijon Opera after The Pearl Fishers (2025), director Mirabelle Ordinaire explores this interplay between reality and appearances, drawing parallels between Cinderella and Alice in Wonderland, and Lewis Carroll's sequel, Through the Looking-Glass , published in 1871. Acclaimed as Poppea and during her recital of Moving Songs , Dijon-born mezzo-soprano Marine Chagnon embodies the sensitive Angelina. Another rising star, the young Italian-Turkish conductor Nil Venditti, leads the Dijon Bourgogne Orchestra and the Dijon Opera Chorus.

Author, director, and set designer Séverine Coulon conceived her new show with Léa Pageot, a young illustrator and recent graduate of the Haute École des Arts du Rhin. Together, they grapple with the dilemma of "to leave or to stay?" They explore notions of emancipation, choice versus constraint, domination, and the divide between classes and cultures, with the project firmly rooted in the defense of curiosity as a powerful bulwark against isolation. True to their evocative approach to theatre, they aim to construct a resolutely contemporary narrative by employing a dynamic set design and a recorded singing choir. This performance, featuring two actresses on stage, is bilingual in French and French Sign Language. The company continues to offer unconditional access to all, regardless of disability, thanks in particular to the ongoing presence of dedicated support staff.
