The play examines how a scientific expert becomes “an enemy of the people” when he threatens to expose an ecological human disaster. Will he be silenced by those who seek to protect their personal financial gains? Thomas Ostermeier’s scorching adaptation successfully pulls Ibsen’s play out of a small Norwegian town in 1882 and into a modern day global theatrical debate about corruption, climate emergency, and inequality.

- Seating begins ninety minutes prior to showtime. With limited parking and no reserved seating, guests are encouraged to arrive early, dress warmly, and enjoy the unique atmosphere of the Outdoor Forest Theater.
- Feel free to bring your own food and drink, including alcohol, to enjoy from your seats. Concessions will also be available for purchase.
- Only licensed service animals are permitted in the venue. Please have your printed license ready for box office personnel.
- For convenience, a passenger drop-off area is available in the main parking lot. Parking is recommended on Mountain View and Junipero Street, a short 10-minute walk away.
- Please note, there are no refunds once tickets are purchased. Ticket exchanges for alternate performances are subject to availability and must be made at least 24 hours prior to the original performance date. A per ticket exchange fee of $3.00 applies, except for Flexpass holders.

- From Highway 1: Take the Ocean Avenue exit, continue past the first stop sign for two blocks, turn left onto Santa Rita Street, and proceed to the entrance gate at the intersection of Santa Rita & Mountain View.
- From Downtown Carmel: Proceed up Ocean Ave to the intersection of Ocean, Junipero St., and Mountain View Ave. Veer right onto Mountain View and continue for 3 blocks to the Forest Theater gate.
