Grammy-winner Paul Jacobs returns to Oregon Bach Festival to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the OBF Organ Institute! The centerpiece of the anniversary celebration is an OBF co-commission and west coast premiere of a new organ concerto by Lowell Liebermann. The program includes the Saint Saëns “Organ Symphony” and a new Bach transcription by composer Damien Geter.

Flutist Elizabeth Salerno debuts from the Royal Danish Academy of Music with a program inspired by the adventures and writings of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. In 1935 he had a near-death experience that would feature prominently in his memoir ‘Wind, Sand, and Stars’ and would go on to inspire him to write the timeless story of ‘The Little Prince’.

Susanna Mälkki conducts a thought-provoking program anchored by Gustav Mahler’s Fourth Symphony. **Trio Matisse: A Chamber Music Concert by Oak Ridge Civic Music Association**

Join us for an unforgettable afternoon of chamber music as the Oak Ridge Civic Music Association proudly presents Trio Matisse in their season-opening concert. This exceptional ensemble, featuring the outstanding solo clarinetist Nickolas Hamblin, violist Benjamin Penzner, and pianist Ariya Laothitipong, will grace the stage of the First United Methodist Church of Oak Ridge on Sunday, August 27, 2023, at 3:00 PM, with a pre-concert talk beginning at 2:30 PM.

Trio Matisse, named after the eclectic French artist Henri Matisse, has quickly gained national recognition for their evocative performances that span the breadth of chamber music repertoire. Formed in 2021, the trio has already clinched grand prizes in prestigious competitions such as the Dale and Nancy Briggs, New York International Young Musician’s, and Charleston Chamber Music Competitions. Their program for this concert includes virtuosic pieces by Mozart, Bruch, Liebermann, and Stölzel, showcasing their exceptional talent and chemistry as an ensemble.

Nickolas Hamblin, who previously captivated audiences with his performance of Aaron Copland’s Concerto under Maestro Régulo Stabilito, returns with Trio Matisse to deliver another performance that promises to be both exciting and brilliant. This concert marks the perfect start to the chamber music season, offering a unique opportunity to experience the artistry of these award-winning musicians.
