She marched with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., performed at John F. Kennedy’s inauguration, and sang in Barack Obama’s White House.

Celisse, the phenomenal singer/songwriter and spoken word artist, opens the program with a “powerhouse voice, infectious personality and guitar shredding that earned her standing ovations” (Minneapolis Star Tribune).

Coming off his Grammy-nominated 2025 album Second Line Sunday, Trombone Shorty returns with his band Orleans Avenue to bring high-octane New Orleans funk to the Filene Center. A national treasure and multigenerational talent, the iconic Mavis Staples lays it down with The Staple Singers’ classics “I’ll Take You There” and “Respect Yourself,” plus other highlights from her vast career, including her latest solo album Sad and Beautiful World (2025). Rounding out the lineup is powerhouse country soul duo The War And Treaty with “That’s How Love is Made,” “Five More Minutes,” and more.

Alabama Shakes, the Athens, AL-raised band, comprised of vocalist/guitarist Brittany Howard, guitarist Heath Fogg, and bassist Zac Cockrell exploded onto the scene in 2012 with their debut album Boys & Girls, (ATO Records), which entered Billboard’s Independent Albums chart at No. 1. Boys & Girls earned the band multiple GRAMMY nominations and was hailed as one of the year’s best albums by numerous publications, including Rolling Stone, which also named lead single “Hold On” the #1 Best Song of 2012. Soon after its release, the bandmates found themselves thrust into the global spotlight, achieving such milestones as performing at the White House and on Saturday Night Live.
