Sound Designer

Between Leïla Martial, a “multi-talented” singer-clown who is fond of music boxes, slide flutes, vials and other repurposed toys, and Élie Dufour, a piano man who constantly increases the expressive resources of his instrument, the connection was bound to happen. An “alternative” current, because these two love nothing more than taking detours, tangents, and detours; but also a continuous current, as their poetic vision and taste for invention never falter. Their complicity, centered around the organetto, a small medieval portable organ that resonates with Leila's breath and bottle playing, is based on a constant pushing of boundaries and appearances. Customized, the grand piano becomes a more percussive instrument than ever, while effects pedals transform the sound live, constantly exploring new perspectives, open to the ear. Between emotional rollercoaster and delirious burst, Karma Bazar is an “augmented concert” that appeals to all the senses, from “traditional” piano and voice to techno trances for the dance floor, from minimalist song to lyrical flights, from church organ to gypsy harmonies.
