Hanif Kureishi (1954), one of the greatest contemporary British authors, tells the story of the confrontation between Jane and her stepfather Cecil, played by Stefania Rocca and Franco Castellano. After years of silence, the two find themselves in a suspended time, just before nightfall. She has tried to leave everything behind, avoiding the man who marked her childhood, but now those memories are reflected only in the frailty of an elderly man. The dialogue between them immediately becomes tense, the roles of victim and executioner seem clear, but the memories crack and contradict each other, waver, and finally give way to an ambiguous bond, deeper and more painful than expected.
