Join us for an exceptional musical showcase featuring the talented Dustin Nguyen on trombone, as part of his Master of Music recital. This event is scheduled for Sunday, May 12, 2024, at 2:30pm CDT, held in the historic Lutkin Hall at Northwestern University. Dustin, a distinguished student of Michael Mulcahy, will be accompanied by Yoko Yamada-Selvaggio on piano.

The recital will include a diverse repertoire with selections from Alexander Scriabin arranged by Ralph Sauer, the Concerto for Alto Trombone by Leopold Mozart, the Trombone Concerto, Op. 114 by Derek Bourgeois, and a unique arrangement of Errol Garner's "Misty" by Dustin Nguyen himself, inspired by an Ella Fitzgerald performance edition.

The repertoire includes Leopold Mozart's Concerto for Alto Trombone, Joseph Jongen's Aria et polonaise, Op. 128, Sergei Rachmaninoff's Sleep, Op. 38, No. 5, Launy Grondahl's Concerto for Trombone, and Leonard Bernstein's Maria from West Side Story, arranged by Jack Gale.

Conductor, Kenneth Slowik will lead the orchestra through Mozart's Exsultate, Jubilate, Leopold Mozart's trumpet concerto, C.P.E. Bach flute concerto and Haydn Symphony no. 52. We have an earlier performance of this concert at 1:30 pm on April 30.

Bring your kids or grandkids to experience the joy of orchestral music, including Camille Saint-Saëns’s enchanting zoological survey. As they meet a regal Lion, a stately Swan, bouncing Kangaroos, and a ponderous Elephant, your young person’s eyes will sparkle with curiosity and wonder.
