Morton Rhue's 1981 novel ' The Wave ' is based on a true story: a social experiment in the USA, conducted in 1967 by history teacher Ron Jones to warn his students about the allure of fascist movements. This gripping drama continues to exert a powerful fascination. The author describes how a misguided sense of belonging, a leader idol, and questionable principles can influence young people and inspire them to embrace totalitarian systems.
