GRAMMY® Award-Winning American jazz fusion and Latin jazz guitarist/composer, Al Di Meola returns to the Bilheimer Capitol Theatre with his band as part of the Land of the Midnight Sun Tour! A bona fide guitar hero and perennial poll-winner, Al Di Meola has been recognized internationally over the past four decades as virtuoso of the highest order. A prolific composer and prodigious six-string talent, Di Meola has amassed over 20 albums as a leader while collaborating on a dozen or so others with the likes of the fusion supergroup Return To Forever (with Chick Corea, Stanley Clarke and Lenny White), the celebrated acoustic guitar trio featuring fellow virtuosos John McLaughlin and Paco de Lucia, and the Rite of Strings trio with bassist Clarke and violinist Jean-Luc Ponty. While his dazzling technique on both acoustic and electric guitars has afforded him regal status among the hordes of fretboard aficionados who regularly flock to his concerts, the depth of Di Meola's writing along with the soulfulness and his inherent lyricism of his guitaristic expression have won him legions of fans worldwide beyond the guitar aficionado set.

A technical virtuoso with uncommon soul and passion, Di Meola is on the shortlist of the world’s great guitarists. He came to worldwide prominence in 1974 when he was invited by Chick Corea to join the fusion supergroup Return to Forever at age 19, playing a quicksilver form of electric jazz that set a new high-water mark for what could be achieved on his instrument.

Al Di Meola is a guitarist’s guitarist, but those who listen to his music, in concert or on recordings, are the fortunate recipients of the genius his peers have long recognized. In a career spanning four decades, he is considered a pioneer of blending world music and jazz. Di Meola has earned three gold albums and countless awards, including induction into Guitar Player’s Gallery of Greats and the prestigious Montreal Jazz Festival’s Miles Davis Award, which celebrates an artist’s body of work and influence in giving new life to the jazz idiom. That 2015 award would have been the capstone for many careers, but in 2018, Di Meola released Opus, an album that again refocused his art.

Joined by acclaimed guitarist Peo Alfonsi, percussionist Sergio Martinez, and tabla virtuoso Amit Kavthekar, this ensemble blends intricate acoustic guitar interplay with pulsating Latin and Indian-inspired rhythms.
