American saxophonist, composer, and bandleader Steve Coleman is among the most creative exponents of contemporary jazz . Capable of blending jazz with hip-hop and funk rhythms, he has developed a highly personal and recognizable style over the course of his long career, a compositional language that weaves together the many threads of African diaspora music . Each of his concerts with the historic Five Elements group, with their lightning-fast grooves and impetuous solos, is an unrepeatable experience .
