Festival Orchestra Week kicks off with a centennial celebration of one of today’s most recognized classical compositions, Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue. Joining the Orchestra to perform this iconic Jazz Age masterpiece is the acclaimed Marcus Roberts Trio, offering an innovative and entertaining approach to the beloved work. Maestro Robert Moody and the Orchestra complement the jazz-inspired Rhapsody with My Homeland by Dvořák and the ebullient L’Tombeau de Couperin of Ravel.

Rhapsody in Blue

La Casa de Cristo Lutheran Church

Based on a famous Grimm's fairytale, in which a jealous stepmother murders her stepson and serves him up in a stew to his unsuspecting father. In this gripping story of revenge and redemption, the boy's stepsister buries her stepbrother's bones under a juniper tree where his mother is buried, from where the child's spirit returns as a singing bird who wreaks vengeance on his wicked stepmother before being restored to life in the bosom of his family.
