ALEXANDER AISENBERG, violin, belongs to the famous Russian Violin School, which has produced a great number of extraordinary masters of this instrument. He began his studies in Odessa with his grandfather Michael Greenberg and then continued his studies at the Moscow Conservatory. While in Moscow Alex won numerous Soviet competitions. Later he studied at Hochschule fur Music, Vienna. Alex has performed with orchestras and symphonies worldwide. After leaving the Soviet Union, Alex won the First Prize and a Gold medal in the Michelangelo Abbado Violin Competition in Sondrio, Italy, along with the Paolo Borciani special prize for chamber music. He is also a winner of Concorso Internationale Rameu in France. As a soloist, conductor and chamber musician, Alex has performed in Europe, South and North Americas with the Vienna Chamber Orchestra, Vienna Soloists, Moscow Symphony, Odessa Philharmonic, Belgrade Radio Symphony Orchestra, Dubrovnik Festival Orchestra, Kansas City Chamber Orchestra, Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, and Heidelberg Chamber Orchestra. Alex Eisenberg enters his 7th season as a Music Director of Capriccio Chamber Orchestra. His previous engagements included a guest conducting of West Coast Symphony Orchestra, Heidelberg Chamber Orchestra, Orchestra Intenazionale D’Italia, Vorarlberg Kammerorchester among others.

Praised for his “awesome technical command and maturity” (The Strad) and “absolute virtuosity, almost blinding in its incredible purity” (L’ape musicale), Kevin regularly performs on the world’s largest stages, ranging from Carnegie Hall in New York to London’s Royal Festival Hall to the Forbidden City Concert Hall in Beijing. Initially coming to international attention after winning the 2018 Paganini Competition and 2012 Yehudi Menuhin Competition, he has established himself as a leading figure among the next generation of musicians, astonishing audiences with his peerless technical mastery and inimitable artistic voice.

The California Youth Symphony is pleased to continue our very popular March Festival Concert series, at which we feature our Intermediate String Ensemble under the direction of Kati Kyme, the Wind Symphony under the direction of Pete Nowlen, and the CYS Associate Orchestra under the direction of Maestro Eylar. Maestro Nowlen will lead the Wind Symphony in an ambitious program including works by Butler, Chan, and McBeth. The Associate Orchestra is delighted to spotlight our Concerto Competition winner Kayla Lee as she performs Wieniawski’s dazzling Scherzo Tarantelle. The orchestra will also offer the first movement of Beethoven’s Symphony no. 5, the Raiders March from Raiders of the Lost Ark, plus music by Berlioz and Saint-Saëns. The CYS Intermediate String Ensemble will feature works by Beethoven and Mozart. Our Festival Concert is a wonderful opportunity to experience the full gamut of the California Youth Symphony’s rich and varied musical program. Don’t miss it!

Née à Séoul en 1989, formée à la Juilliard School, cette lauréate des concours Tchaïkovski de Moscou, ARD de Munich, Reine Elisabeth de Bruxelles et Sibelius de Helsinki (excusez du peu!) s'est déjà produite sur les scènes du Musikverein de Vienne, de la Philharmonie de Berlin et du Carnegie Hall de New York. Elle joue un magnifique Guadagnini construit en 1774, mis à sa disposition par la Kumho Asiana Cultural Foundation.
