The company premiere of Dvořák’s Rusalka will be directed by the acclaimed Sir David Pountney whose vision is of a Freudian fairy tale set in a psychiatric hospital in Vienna. Led by conductor Lidiya Yankovskaya, Ailyn Pérez sings the title role. Robert Watson performs as the Prince and Mary Elizabeth Williams is the Foreign Princess, both in their company debuts.



Rusalka

With music by Benjamin Britten and a libretto by Myfanwy Piper, this production promises to immerse audiences in a haunting narrative that explores the thin line between reality and the supernatural.

Running from July 19 to August 5, 2025, the opera is performed in English, accompanied by instant translation screens in both English and Spanish, ensuring an accessible and engaging experience for all. The performance lasts approximately 2 hours and 5 minutes, including a 25-minute intermission, providing the perfect evening of entertainment.

This co-production with the Canadian Opera Company, originated at Garsington Opera, features a talented cast including Jacquelyn Stucker as the Governess, Brenton Ryan as Peter Quint/Prologue, Christine Rice as Mrs. Grose, Wendy Bryn Harmer as Miss Jessel, under the baton of conductor Gemma New and direction by Louisa Muller. The creative team is rounded out with scenic and costume design by Christopher Oram and lighting design by Malcolm Rippeth.

From July 26 to August 21, 2025, immerse yourself in a world where the rules of the universe no longer apply, sung in German with instant translation screens in English and Spanish.

The opera, with music and libretto by Richard Wagner, promises an unforgettable journey through its approximately 4 hours and 35 minutes runtime, including two intermissions. The story spans three acts, beginning with Siegmund's fateful encounter with Sieglinde, leading to their forbidden love, and culminating in the dramatic consequences of their actions, influenced by the gods themselves.

Featuring a stellar cast including Tamara Wilson as Brünnhilde, Ryan Speedo Green as Wotan, Jamez McCorkle as Siegmund, and Vida Miknevičiūtė as Sieglinde, under the baton of conductor James Gaffigan and direction by Melly Still. The production's scenic and costume designs by Ana Inés Jabares-Pita, lighting by Malcolm Rippeth, and choreography by Tinovimbanashe Sibanda promise to bring Wagner's mythical world to life.
