The album features Aaron Parks on piano, Joe Sanders on bass, and Brian Blade on drums, with special guests Nicholas Payton (trumpet), Kurt Rosenwinkel (guitar), Peter Bernstein (guitar), and Joel Ross (vibes).

In assembling the quintet for his 2023 album Where Are We the Berkeley saxophone star turned to an all-star cast of players with whom he’s shaped the contemporary jazz scene for some three decades.

Since making a name for himself in Redman’s 1994 MoodSwing quartet, Brian Blade has become one of the era’s definitive drummers. They’ve maintained a close working relationship over the years though their collaborations accelerated with the Ornette Coleman/Dewey Redman-inspired quartet Still Dreaming and the reassembled MoodSwing quartet with Brad Mehldau and Christian McBride.
