In a rare live performance, Oscar Peterson’s Africa Suite is presented by an all-star ensemble including his protégé Benny Green and led by legendary composer and arranger John Clayton. The suite, inspired in part by Nelson Mandela and the intense struggle for human rights in apartheid South Africa, accentuates Peterson’s “technically brilliant and melodically inventive” (All About Jazz) style and reverence for social justice activism.

Brian Ho has dedicated countless hours to mastering the rich history of the Hammond Organ on and off the bandstand, while simultaneously adding his voice and influences into the music. Joined by drummer Byron “Wookie” Landham and other alumni of Joey Defrancesco’s trio, Grammy Award Nominated guitarist Dan Wilson, this performance will premiere songs from Ho’s new album, Bridges.

The venue, Friends Field, offers a spacious open lawn where guests can enjoy the concert in a relaxed atmosphere. Trumpeter and vocalist Jennifer Hartswick will join Wilson for a tribute to legend Stevie Wonder. Hartswick has performed with Herbie Hancock, Phish, Christian McBride, Tom Petty, Aaron Neville, Carlos Santana, the Rolling Stones, Big Gigantic, Dave Matthews and countless others.
