Veronica Swift first appeared at the Gallo Center as Chris Botti’s special guest during the 21/22 season. So impressed was our CEO, Chad Hilligus, Veronica was invited back for her own show last season as part of the Chad’s Picks series. If you were at either performance, then you know this added show announcement is very good news indeed. And if you didn't see one of those performances, well, now you have another chance to be wowed by this extraordinary artist.

Veronica first gained major international attention in 2015 when, at a mere 21 years of age, she won second place in the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz International Vocals Competition. Since then her star has risen dramatically thanks to an outpouring of critical praise as well as highly enthusiastic audience responses everywhere she goes. Artistically, Veronica crosses multiple genres in her performances. Her amazing jazz vocals are strongly infused with rock and pop influences ranging from Queen to Broadway.

The buzz-worthy young vocalist set the jazz world on fire after her second-place finish at the 2015 Thelonious Monk International Jazz Competition, in which she wowed judges Dee Dee Bridgewater, Al Jarreau and Patti Austin. She returns with music from her new Mack Avenue session, TransGenre.

A native of Charlottesville, North Carolina, the prodigious Swift made her recording debut at age 9 with saxophonist Richie Cole and has followed her muse ever since, making her debut at Jazz at Lincoln Center at age 11 and indulging her taste for 20s and 30s swing with the legendary Nighthawks band led by historian and musician Vince Giordano
